Anna Dean

President

Anna Dean, M.S., CCC-SLP

Anna moved to Jacksonville, Florida as a child and completed elementary, middle and high school in the Mandarin area. She moved to Jupiter, FL to attend college where she received a Bachelor’s Degree from Florida Atlantic University in Elementary Education. She then went on to be part of the first cohort to graduate from Jacksonville University’s Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences. She currently works as a SLP with children at an early-learning center in the west side of the city and works with adults in a home-health care setting throughout Duval county. She truly enjoys working with both populations and loves learning from other professionals in the field about a variety of topics. Her goal as JASPA President is to expand the presence of JASPA in the community and continue the legacy of “seeking the best in others to find the best in ourselves”.

Stephanie Davis

Immediate Past President

Stephanie Davis M.S., CCC-SLP

Ms. Davis is a sixteen-year connoisseur of speech language pathology. A native of Texas, she was awarded her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in speech language pathology from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Since relocating to Florida to advance her career, she has received her Board Certification in Swallowing and Swallowing disorders in 2013 and maintains an active certification with the American Board of Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders. She was awarded the Clinician of the year in 2013 by the Jacksonville Area Speech Pathology Association (JASPA), as well as Distinguished Service and Honors of the Association in 2018. Her clinical specialty from UF Health was granted in 2014, and she was bestowed UF’s speech pathologist of the year in 2017.

She has received eight awards for continuing education, participates in two special interest groups (gerontology and swallowing disorders), completes peer reviews of journal articles, and mentors many students and applicants approaching board certification.

Ms. Davis has advocated for and been quoted by the Aphasia Center of West Texas, sits on the mentoring committee for the Board of Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders, is a member of the Dysphagia Research Society, and has served as the president of JASPA for two terms.

She has advanced her practice to the setting of the NICU of UF Health Jacksonville, implementing FEES and VFSS. She recently completed research studies and is published in the Journal of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery.

Her passion for her career defines her model of excellence as she continually strives to expand her knowledge and build on her unique skill sets which increase function for speech and swallowing deficits against all populations.

Hannah Werthman

President Elect

Hannah Werthman M. Ed., CCC-SLP

Hannah Werthman was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her undergraduate and graduate degree from Valdosta State University. She graduated in Summer of 2016, and has worked in various school-based positions and adult/pediatric outpatient clinics. Hannah’s brother, Michael, is on the autism spectrum so her passion has been early intervention and early detection. She believes that because of early screening, it helped advance her brother into being functional in the community today. She is currently a Speech-Language Evaluator for Duval County Public Schools. She enjoys interacting with families and Exceptional Student Education teams in order for students to receive services that would benefit their academic and social interactions. Hannah has served as president elect for JASPA for one year and really enjoys being involved with some many well-rounded and educated Speech-Language Pathologist still practicing in the field.

Briea Brinson

Recording Secretary

Briea Brinson M.S., CCC-SLP

Briea Brinson, MS CCC-SLP is an ASHA-certified, speech-language pathologist area supervisor in Northeast Florida for Speech Rehab Services, LLC. She provides direct clinical support to CF’s and CCC’s as well as, continued develop relationships with clients throughout the North Florida and Georgia region. Since she received her Bachelor of Science in Communicative Disorders at the University of Central Florida in 2005 and Master of Science in Speech Pathology at Nova Southeastern University in 2010, Briea has been working with Speech Rehab Services, LLC. 

Briea started working as a BS Level SLP in 2005 in Seminole County, Florida. While she was working in the school system, she achieved her master’s degree at the top of her class. She started with SRS as a Clinical Fellow and since then has progressively increased her responsibilities. She has worked in multiple settings through Speech Rehab Services, LLC including but not limited to Public Schools, Charter Schools, Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Facilities, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Hospitals, Early Intervention, Private Clinics, and Home Health. 

She was promoted in 2012 to clinical supervisor and assisted with developing the clinical supervision program and collaborating with the development of training modules for new therapists. In 2014, Briea relocated to North Florida and started to grow the business and quickly proved herself to the Executive Leadership Team her dedication to Speech Rehab Services and became the Lead Clinical Supervisor. Then in 2017, Briea received another promotion to Area Supervisor of North Florida and Georgia. 

Formally, she was the Vice President of ASHA Affairs for Jacksonville Area Speech Pathology Association and the Continuing Education Administrator. Currently, she is the Recording Secretary. 
Since The Stepping Stones Group purchased Speech Rehab Services, Briea has added additional responsibilities to her plate. She is presently on the Professional Development Specialist and the Bloom Team for professional development for current employees, district support and university presentations. She has presently presented in several states nationwide.

Laura Ramsey

Member At Large

Laura Ramsey M.S. CCC-SLP

Laura Lucente Ramsey received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Florida State University- Go Noles! She has practiced Speech Language Pathology for more than 40 years. Her primary interest is in working with adolescents who have cognitive impairment or autism spectrum disorders. She is employed by Clay County Schools at Ridgeview High School. She is a past president of JASPA.
